A Year ago today I started this at this Pace, and boy are my legs tired. It hasn't been easy and sometimes it hasn't been pretty but I've stuck with it, struggled to adapt and learn the blogging ways. The sadest part for me was when they firewalled me at work and I had to open a Blogger account and this sweet little Pace was left and neglected. I've kept it somewhat alive becasue I just couldn't let go into Blogging limbo. Well my sweet Pace, thanks for giving me a place to hang and somewhere to express myself. I promise to visit more often and to keep you updated and perhaps someday I will let you retire and you won't have to listen to my psychobabble anymore. The Spanish Broom in the back yard is the most fricken beautiful bloomed thing I've ever seen. I admired it as I planted a few more flowers next to my grape vines which I'm happy to say are still alive and growing. I don't remember which vine is green or which is red and two of the plants appear to be doing better than the other two, which will thrive better is yet to be seen.

We finally made the switch from dial up to broadband and everything is much faster now that it is finally installed and running. I posted a bunch of photos of the plants around my house that are in bloon or ready to bloom at Flicker. What used to take 20 minutes now takes 2, I thank Fussy and her tribute to her Dad for giving me the push to just do it already.

I also want to thank and remember on this Memorial weekend, all the people who have fought for my freedom to choose what ever I want (even if it was choosing to be a slowsky all those years). Thank you.

Sandia beats La Cueva, Twice

I had forgotten about the rain out game and thought the season was over. I didn't really want to go to the game today because I didn't think Luc would be playing and they were playing La Cueva (yuck yuck they suck). Any way, last night Lucas said they were gonna let him bat in the games and that I had to go to the game because the seniors were gonna be announced and the parents have to go out on the field. It turned out to be one of the best games of the season. Our guys played some solid defense and actually did some hitting today and they won both games. Winning the first one was good enough but they pulled in out in the second game in the seventh inning to break the tie and win. They have a small chance of going to the state tournament with these wins but it would be fine to end it this way.

Lucas had a hit first bat, walked and struck out once. I don't remember all his at bats but he had a good game and it was a great way to for him to end high school baseball. I've enjoyed watching him play all these years starting with Little League, then summer ball and now high school. I hope he keeps playing as long as he wants but after he gives his arm a break.

The season is over for all the teams and here are the final stats. Luc has some damage to his elbow and didn't play the last few games. He is scheduled for an MRI and physical therapy later this month. Hopefully he will make a full recovery.

Jacob is gettng ready for football by lifting weights and keeping his grades up. Just a few weeks left of school, hang in there guys.

Update: Luc will see the doctor on Tuesday and the teams play their last regular scheduled games this weekend in Santa Fe (roadtrip). It is always great getting to play and watch and it will be sad to see the season end but we did our best and that is all that anyone can ask for.

It rained again today and guess who was waiting for me when I got home? My friend Mr. Roadrunner. This time Jacob helped me chase him around.

I have a class tomorrow so I'll miss the first baseball game. Luc is on the injured list so he isn't playing. Jacob will be at the game and I hope he gets some playing time but who knows. It will be a rough day for the team tomorrow, wish them luck, they will need it. I'm leaving to Med after the game to visit Dad for his 85th birthday on the 18th so I will miss my game on Sunday. I have not bought a gift for him and have no idea what to get him. I really need to plan better.

I was unsuccessful at getting the video to load and I'm giving up now because life must go on.

The Varsity won both their games yesterday against Albuquerque High 10-0. I missed the first game but Alena said they had to stop for a while because it was snowing. Yup, snow for Easter weekend, although today was much nicer, so Jacob and his Dad decided to do some spring yard work and being pyromaniacs that means "torching the dead grass"! I can't say too much because last weekend I did the same thing to the grass around my rose bush. It is there on the left and if you look closely you can see dead leaves and that I almost killed it. I'm not allowed to play with matches anymore.

Lucas and Jacob just left to go be on TV. The Sandia Baseball team will be on KOBTV Channel 4 NM Gameday at 10:30 pm tonight. Stay tuned for the video. GO MATADORS!

I can't get the video to load but while I'm still working at getting it to load I will post a picture. Lucas was chosen to give the intro and he biffed a little and his hair looked very wild but I was proud just the same. Jacob sat way in the back and was cut out of a couple of shots but he had fun and that is all that mattered.

The Varsity team finally has a win under their belt after beating Provo, Utah 2-0 today in the first game of the tournament. Yeah Matadors! It is a good day for the team but I hope they don't celebrate too much because they have two more games to play. Tomorrow they play Moriarty (another New Mexico team) but I wish they could have played a Colorado or Utah team because it is alway nice to see what other talent is out there. Luc sounded happy when I called to find out the score and I missed Jacob's call but when I called back he was very happy too (even though he didn't get any playing time). Jacob said Lucas pitched the last innings and did his job by holding them with no runs, so all is good with my boys tonight.

I drive out tomorrow morning to watch the second game and now that they won I don't have to leave as early as I thought I would. It is about a three hour drive and not the most scenic but it is someplace I have never driven on my own so it will be an adventure and I hope to see lots of new things and have a good time. Alena, one of the other baseball moms, has family and a fiance there and she said I can stay with her and her man so I didn't even make a hotel reservation. I am living wild and free and ready to face the north west corner of New Mexico all on my own. Farmington, here I come.

Happy Birthday Grandma! I love and miss you and did a little weaving the other day in remembrance of you.

This week Varsity is on the road traveling to Farmington, NM. First game they play is against a team from my home state of Utah. I will miss this game (and JV's game today) because of school but plan on going to the games on Friday and Saturday. Win or lose they will play three games with teams from NM, CO and UT.

Baseball In Full Swing

High School baseball season officially started today at 3:30 with our first game against Eldorado HS. I went to watch the Varsity team play because Lucas said he was pitching. I got there during the first inning and we were down 1-0, my son's friend Charlie was leaving as I arrived and said they had hit a homerun off Luc. He pitched for a couple of innings and they battled back and had the lead for a while but then the other team started hitting and we lost 23-13 with the 10 run rule going into effect after the 6th inning. Thank God! It was so freeking cold and windy and even though I had on two jackets and a blanket wrapped around me I froze my ass off. I don't know how the boys can play in such weather but they do so they are way tougher than me. I am a wimp when it comes to the cold. Give me 100 degrees anytime, especially now because I still haven't warmed up. Burrrrrrr

Varsity Baseball, Junior Varsity Baseball and Mom's Soccer Schedule will be posted soon. Second/third baseball games Saturday, first soccer game Sunday. I will be praying for warm weather, please!

Sometime your kids do things that just make you smile. Luc borrowed my phone and moved some of my music to his phone. MY MUSIC! That may not sound to exciting but Luc has never liked my music. He was into the whole hip-hop/rap stuff and I am a rocker moma, although I did catch myself tapping my foot to some of his hip-hop music. I love to blast my music when I'm driving and sing along and I think my singing sounds great. Well, I had noticed he was listening to a little Queen and Green Day and then the other day the actually stole two songs of mine by the band Sum41, 'Fatlip' and 'Still Waiting'. He didn't mean to steal them, the phone moved them from my memory card to his phone and now he wants a memory card too. So I'm gonna get him one because I think making your mom smile deserves a gig.
